What Our Clients Have To Say

I would like to offer the following experience my wife and I have had with our dog in her care for some time.

We purchased a black standard schnauzer puppy this past summer. When she was about 3 months old, we inquired about training and was referred to Meridith.

We enrolled "Sophie", and for the past 6 months, we have utilized her expertise in training "Sophie". From the start, Sophie loved the training sessions with Meridith. Sophie quickly learned the basics, sit, down, stay and come. We were counseled after each session explaining what was accomplished and our "home work". Sophie advanced quickly from an unruly puppy to a disciplined dog. I've never seen a dog so eager to be trained. Meridith's methods are exemplary and very effective. I've attended many obedience training sessions with previous dogs I've had over many years and none better than the present with Meridith. The dogs in her care/training seem to enjoy her and her methods. We trust her completely and recommend her whenever asked. She is of very good character and we trust her completely.

'It’s hard to express how much the Polished Pooch helped our family with our puppy, Joey. Having just moved to Memphis, we were definitely a little in over our heads when we got him. It had also been over ten years since we’d even had a dog! That being said, we were in obvious need of advice and direction (and the occasional day off from raising our sweet lab—it became exhausting at times), and to say that Meredith at the Polished Pooch was our lifesaver is an understatement. She talked with us each time we brought Joey to puppy school and gave wonderful advice. She is a wonderful professional who clearly knows what she’s doing. And each time Joey comes home from school, he whines as we drive away. He’s always so excited to be there. We recommend the Polished Pooch 100%!"

I highly recommend The Polished Pooch! We learned about Meridith and her training services when we brought our 'new' puppy to the vet for a check up. We had just adopted our 7 month old dog, Zoe, from the shelter and wanted to start right away with dog training. Meridith provided exactly what we needed! She introduced basic commands for Zoe, and more importantly, did a great job of socializing Zoe with humans.

Zoe was initially very timid around any new human, but has learned to warm up nicely. Meridith provided for Zoe's needs, as well as my family's. After each training session, Meridith spent time with my children and I to explain the progress Zoe had made and also to give very specific 'homework' for all of us to work on, including written descriptions of commands.

We are highly confident in Meridith's abilities as a trainer and would recommend her to any dog owner.

I have the most wonderful dog named Wiz. We think Wiz is a combination of Lab, Border Collie and Pit Bull. My son rescued him as a puppy (3 months old) from the Oxford , MS shelter during his college spring break in March 2011. It turns out that his choice of name was a self prophecy. We learned about Meredith and her training through numerous visits to our vet. Although our dog has a sweet temperament and is friendly, he was very anxious and timid as a puppy. Meredith worked with him and he is now very confident and social with both dogs and people. She even worked miracles with his bladder control as part of his behavior training. In addition to her excellent training, Meredith is very concerned with the overall well being of her “students”. Wiz developed severe food allergies as a puppy and Meredith was instrumental in helping us take the right course of action and she was a constant source of encouragement during the long months of trial and error.

I have three, four legged babies. My youngest is Holly. She is a three year old Labrador Retriever. She is very well behaved. I love all my dogs
just the same but Holly, by far has the very best manners. I had nothing at
all to do with her wonderful behavior. I give credit and credit alone to Meridith Caver.
Meridith’s face was very familiar to me as I had seen her many times in
my vet’s office which was also her place of employment. Before I ever met
Meredith personally I had heard of her. Let me explain...
My son and I had rescued a dog. We weren’t quite sure of his temperament and in fact were a bit afraid of him. I called around to the various shelters and to a few people I knew who worked with dogs.
Meridith’s name kept coming up over and over. Meridith Caver would be
excellent to look at this dog...there is a girl at Forest Hill Animal Hospital, her name is Meridith, you should talk to her. We did just that and she checked out the dog and his temperament for us. She even gave us another name to call if we felt we needed another opinion. The rescue’s name was
Max and he had a very happy ending. He went to live with a policeman and his family in his forever home and they will testify to what a good dog he is.
Max has Meridith to thank because the day we rescued him he was scheduled to be put down. Needless to say, I was very impressed. This was
just the beginning of our relationship with Meridith.
I would bring Holly to the vet’s office for her regular shots and check-ups. At around a year old she would arrive like a bull in a china shop dragging me all the way. The sweet girls at the front were always so kind to
me as I brought this full of energy girl in. One day I ask for a recommendation for a trainer for Holly. One of the girls mentioned Meridith and her Puppy School and we enrolled immediately.
Holly was an eager student and loved going to The Polished Pooch's Training School and spending time with Meridith and all her four legged friends. We use to laugh because Holly was the oldest and biggest in her class. The transformation in Holly was incredible. She started obeying commands, she was learning manners, she could do tricks...all of this because of Meridith and her gift for working with animals. Holly loved Meridith and her Lab; Trotter, which by the way having been trained by his Mama is the
best behaved and smartest dog I have ever seen. I was thrilled that Holly was a student under Meridith’s guidance. Meridith had made a world of
difference in Holly’s behavior!
We then received a double bonus in that Meridith starting taking care of Holly when we had to be out of town. I was thrilled having one less thing to worry about when we were away. I knew Holly was happy, well cared for and learning all the while we were gone. My dogs are a part of my family and I love them dearly. I would leave any of the three in Meredith’s care and be thrilled to do so. My son and I think she is absolutely fabulous and we have one Lab who would say the same if only she could.
We have since moved out of state and we miss Meridith terribly. We have not found anything or anyone who can replace or even come close to Meridith and her Puppy School!!!
Holly still displays her good manners...I only wish she could share those lessons learned with her Sheltie brother and sister!!!
Thank you Meridith for everything. We love you and miss you lots. Good luck in your training career! In our eyes, you are without a doubt...
The Very Best!!!

My boxer puppy Sadie is one year and 7 months. I took Sadie into Forest Hill Animal Hospital when I got her as a puppy to get all of her shots and that’s how I found out about Meridith’s The Polished Pooch training school. I had some behavior problems with my previous boxer when she was a puppy so knew I wanted to have Sadie trained starting young. I really wanted Sadie to be obedience trained and socialized. This was my first experience with dog training and I have to say I was extremely pleased. Meridith did a wonderful job and even had my 12 week old puppy learning commands within 2 sessions! Meridith was also great about talking with me and giving helpful feedback so I could work with Sadie at home as well. Couldn’t be happier with the training Meridith gave to my pup and would highly recommend her to anyone else.

The high level of professional diligence and dedication exhibited by Ms. Meridith
Caver on a daily basis graphically illustrates what every individual in the professional
dog training occupation should aspire to in order to be regarded by colleagues as being
extraordinary. Ms. Caver strives to make maximum use of all resources at her disposal in
an attempt to significantly enrich and provide stimulating opportunities for all canines in
her care. She has also unselfishly sacrificed a great deal of personal time, effort, and
energy in creating and sustaining relationships with the owners of her canine students.
This is a direct reflection of the type of caliber and professionalism Meridith Caver
exhibits.

Ms. Meridith Caver has the unique ability to effectively communicate an
unparalleled level of personal warmth, compassion, and understanding to each owner in a
way that enables them to comprehend just how special they are and their dog. Meridith
also assumes personal responsibility for ensuring that every canine has numerous
opportunities to achieve skill success (sit, come, and stay) and physical simulation. Ms.
Caver also works very closely with the owners in developing home strategies that support
prior training.

Through my personal experiences of working with Ms. Meridith Caver, I can state
without any reservation that she will become a vital asset to the professional dog trainer
community.

We brought our Labrador puppy to Meridith in August of 2010 when the puppy, "Chloe",
was 3 months old. Our veterinarian recommended Meridith to us for "puppy school" for
Chloe. We had not ever attended dog training classes or had taken our previous dogs
to a trainer.

Chloe usually attended puppy school 2 days a week for approximately 9 months. And
now, Chloe attends "doggie day camp" just a few times a month. We are very pleased
with the commands that Meridith taught Chloe and us at puppy school. Meridith would
always speak to us when we picked up our puppy from puppy school, and go over what
they worked on that day at training. Meridith also taught us that we need to follow
through with the training at home. Meridith worked with our puppy and us regarding
negative behaviors the puppy was doing that we would tell her about (i.e., excessive
chewing, pestering the older Lab in our home, etc).

We recommend Meridith's training school to other people often.

Sincerely,
